THE MOSES STORY NEVER HAPPENED

Before we get into the story and what it means

to you, let me introduce you to Israeli archaeologist

Zeev Herzog of the University of Tel Aviv in Tel Aviv Israel.

What credentials does Zeev Herzog have

to say such things?

Ze’ev Herzog (Hebrew: זאב הרצוג‎; born 1941)

Is an Israeli 

archeologist, professor of archaeology at

The Department of Archaeology and

Ancient Near Eastern Cultures at Tel Aviv University 

specializing in social archaeology,

 ancient architecture and field archaeology.

Ze’ev Herzog has been the director of

The Sonia and Marco Nadler Institute of Archaeology

since 2005, and serves as archaeological advisor

to the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority 

in the preservation and development of

National Parks at Arad and Beer Sheba.

Herzog took part in the excavations of 

Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo with Yigael Yadin 

and in excavations at Tel Arad and Tel Be'er Sheva 

with Yohanan Aharoni.

He directed the excavations at Tel Beer Sheba, 

Tel Michal and Tel Gerisa 

and in 1997 began a new exploration project

at Tel Yafo (ancient Jaffa)

I have people writing me saying this has been found

and that has been found, and I tell them to write

to Professor Herzog because in reality nothing

has been found.

IS MYTHOLOGY

SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

The story has Moses leading people through the desert.

With the people asking constantly

"Where is the promised land.

I don't see any promised land".

Is that any different then religious leaders of today

who lead people along telling them

Jesus is coming soon.

Armageddon is coming,

The Rapture is coming,

God is coming,

Everything is happening etc etc.

WE'RE HUNGRY AND THIRSTY

AND GETTING NOTHING

The story has people dying of thirst.

There's no food.

Nobody's getting paid.

What did they have?

Somebody had a donkey, somebody had a cart,

a few pots.

They had nothing.

MOSES GOES INTO THE MOUNTAIN

Now we change the scenario a bit,

and we become Moses.

We are surrounded by people who are disgusted

with everything,  but we have a vision.

Moses could only say, wait a little more.

We're getting closer, but it seemed like

they were getting further and further away.

Hot burning desert.

We're getting closer. Maybe

So what must we do?

We must get away from everybody .

We have to avoid the crowd.

We have to ascend the mountain within ourselves .

It is a bit of a nail biter because we have this vision

but everything around us looks so bad.

We have to stay in the higher place within.

MOSES TALKS TO GOD,

TAKE TEN

God, this is really screwed up.

I tell these people everything will work out and

everything's a mess.

Ok Mo, here's ten commandments, if you follow

these everything will be all right.

JUST FOLLOW THE TEN

AND EVERYTHING WILL BE GREAT

Ok well now we've got something.

If we follow these ten rules then we will

find the promised land.

The only problem is, are we capable of

following the rules?

SO NOW GOD'S OFF THE HOOK

AND MOSES IS OFF THE HOOK

BUT YOU'RE ON THE HOOK

GOD SPEAKS

"Now I don't want to hear you again asking

"where's the promised land"

You fulfill it.

If you don't then its your responsibility.

Ten Commandments and that's it.

You can't blame me.

NOW JUST A MINUTE

THIS MAY BE A BIT UNFAIR

Listen God, you tell us on one hand to obey the

Ten Commandments.

But then you make us with a carnal mind that says,

forget the Ten Commandments.

Hey, it's the same thing you did with Moses

and the Pharoah.

You tell Moses to go to the Pharoah and say,

let my people go.

Then what do you do?

You tell Pharoah not to let them go.
